VLADIVOSTOK & KAMCHATKA by Mr. Vincent WONG
Russian Far East is the eastern most part of Russia which connects the mainland with the Pacific Ocean, making up 40% of Russia's total territory. Most of this area is challenging for visitors due to its difficult terrain, hostile climate, government restrictions and lack of infrastructure. However, recently two of its locations are becoming very popular to foreign visitors, namely the port city of Vladivostok and the Kamchatka Peninsula. The former is Russian Far East's most impressive city with stunning landscapes, historical structures and unique location on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. The blend of Tsarist-era architecture, modern city life and breathtaking nature makes it an attractive place. It is also worth noting that for a long time Vladivostok was part of China until ceded to Russia in 1860. The Kamchatka Peninsula is a region of striking contrasts - a place where fire and ice coexist through hundreds of volcanoes and glaciers, producing stunning natural sceneries and an ideal living environment for bears, musk, salmon and trout to thrive. Exploring the region demands time as well as effort but visitors rarely leave without unforgettable impressions and emotions.
Testimonials from participants of previous travel talks and study tours led by Vincent: “I have learnt a lot on this subject!” “Very comprehensive indeed. Thanks!” “Very useful guide for my future trip!” ”Now what I have seen makes much more sense. Thank you!”
