Strong & Steady: Move Stronger, Live Longer
Join us for an engaging, interactive luncheon with fellow HKU alumni physiotherapists and personal trainers as they share tips & strategies for active aging, preventing falls, and promoting lifelong fitness in older adults.
This talk will explore why exercise is essential to aging well and how it boosts both life expectancy and quality of life. This talk will cover:
- Surprising statistics on falls, associated mortality rates, and the sequelae that often follow
- Key physiological changes in aging bodies— such as muscle loss, osteoporosis, and slowing metabolism
- Interactive segment on functional screenings for mobility, balance and strength & evidence-based exercises to help build strength & function safely.
