Evening Talk - Invest To Win Mr. M. F. CHAN, BSc(Eng)-Civil 1979 (HKU), CFA (7:00pm)
Hang Seng Index started its history at 100 on 31st July 1964. Forty years has passed, the index now stands at 13,000 plus. This is equivalent to an annualized return of 12.9%, plus an additional annual dividend yield of 3.5%. But how many retail investors have been able to enjoy the market returns?
Academic researches have shown that market timing is a difficult and even futile endeavour. Yet prudent and well planned investment strategies can increase one’s chance of outperforming the market index with decent returns. The key is to understand the market and the companies, and invest based on researches, not intuition.
Mr. M F Chan, a veteran investment professional, will share his experience on some investment strategies that allow investors to increase the odds of winning and outperforming the market. Live examples will be given, though no tips will be served.
Mr M F CHAN is a seasoned investment specialist in Hong Kong. He speaks frequently in Radio, TV and various investment seminars. Apart from being a CFA Charter Holder, Mr M F CHAN also got three Master Degrees in investment, operational research and management. He is an HKU alumni, graduated in the civil engineering department of HKU in 1979.
