Summary: HKUAA Green and Culture Group is organizing a special and relaxed visit to the Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve (鳳園蝴蝶保育區), a Site of Special Scientific Interest (具特殊科學價值地點) with abundant butterfly population, in Tai Po. Under the guidance of experienced butterfly experts, participants will learn to identify and watch a variety of glamorous butterflies dancing around this significant butterfly breeding site in South-east Asia. Through a lecture tailor-made for both HKU alumni and students, participants will understand the habit, life cycle, current threats and conservation status of butterflies in Hong Kong. During the visit, not only are you able to spot out different butterflies in the natural habitat, you can also name a few butterfly species and have more to share with friends. Most importantly, participants will be cultivated with an awareness to protect the habitats of butterflies and conserve natural environment in Hong Kong. This will surely be an exciting, interesting and inspiring eco-tour.
