A Human Journey through Time
The Origin, Evolution & Future of Human through Paleontology
by Mr. Vincent WONG
Paleontology is the study of prehistoric life, largely through fossils which includes two main varieties, namely body fossils and trace fossils. Body fossils refer to the actual fossilized biological remains of living organisms such as bones and teeth which can indicate their physique and physical capability. By dating and comparing body fossils of similar organisms we can trace their evolution history. For human, it can trace the journey from mammal to primates to hominine. Trace fossils are indications of the activities of the living organisms such as foot prints and burrows which can help us to understand the living organism's level of intelligence. For human, trace fossils also include cultural remains such as tools, art objects, architectural relics and writings which were being developed through the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and continued to the present day.
This talk attempts to explain through paleontology the origin, evolution, migration, cultural remains as well as the future of human using layman terms and colorful illustrations.
