Event Theme: The Next Stage In Life
The journey of life may roughly be divided into three stages: The Prep Stage -our educational life, the Professional Stage - our working life, the Personal Stage - our family life.

According to figures released by the HK government, the number of university graduates, the number of job turnovers, bankruptcies as well as divorces in HK have all experienced dramatic increases within the past 10 years. What it means is that while we seem to be doing fine with our stage one, many of us have apparently lost direction in stages two and three.

Our professional and family lives are not an “either or ” situation, but an “as well as” circumstance. If we are not managing these properly, then we must retrace our steps and find out what we are doing wrong and how we can do better in future.

Mei Ling will talk about the differences and similarities, the parallels and perpendiculars of building a career and building a family, how one complements the other, how we can actually have it all.

Guest Speaker: Mrs Mei Ling Ng Liu (廖吳美玲)
Mei Ling has had an exciting career across 3 continents over the past 30 years.

She was many things: a senior corporate executive, an award winning artist, a university lecturer and a successful entrepreneur. Speaking 5 languages, she was also the first Chinese and the first woman to have won the EU Business Excellence Award.

In 2007, she sold her businesses and went into retirement which lasted exactly two months before she once again reinvented herself in a completely new career as an elite matchmaker, book author, columnist, TV and radio talk show hostess.

Mei Ling has always been active in local charities. As an Executive Board member of the American Women’s Association (AWA) and Chairman of the Education & Scholarship Fund, she has been working very closely with local universities, the Education Board (EB), SFAA & VTC to further the education of marginalized students in Hong Kong since many years.

Here’s the link to one of the popular TV programmes 「盛女愛作戰」, where Mei Ling was featured as a consultant:
