樓高兩層的1883大樓為一長方形的磚砌建築物，成立初年設有台長辦公室、測風機、修正時鐘機及風雨針等儀器，室外設有量雨機、寒暑表、觀星儀及日光測驗機等儀器。於1910年代，在對出草坪地底加建地震監測室，由樓梯連接1883大樓的地下外廊。而今日大樓外的草地則設有空氣溫度濕度計、地面和地底溫度計、雨量計、微氣候監測站、暑熱壓力計、風速計等儀器。草坪旁邊亦掛有許多當年在鐵塔上懸掛的風球，以警告市民大眾和維港船隻颱風的來臨。

參觀行程：天文台工作簡介、參觀氣象儀器、展覽廳、法定古蹟大樓及其他設施，以了解天文台的服務及其發展歷史。

1. 參與者及同行18歲以上親友同意接受是次戶外活動，並清楚活動帶有一定之危險性。同時明白本人的健康狀況良好，適宜參加是次活動。如在活動期間發生意外而導致任何傷亡，參與者願意承擔責任，而不會追究香港大學校友會。
2. 參與者亦願意服從本會工作人員一切規則及安排。了解是次戶外活動是在戶外進行，對體能有一定要求。活動有機會在不同的天氣下進行，需要行走一定預計的路程。在活動進行期間，參與者絕對不能服用未經醫生認可的藥物，嚴禁吸煙、飲酒或使用任何興奮劑或鎮定劑。

3. 參與者及同行18歲以上親友同意授權香港大學校友會在活動進行期間如遇緊急的情況下，為參與者安排送院和接受治療，也明白到活動在戶外進行，對體能上都會有一定的考驗。

Notice to Visitors from Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters

l   The Officer will conduct a guided tour in Cantonese around Headquarters on the day of visit. Officer has the authority to cease the visit if anyone fails to observe the rule of visit.

l   The visit will be cancelled under adverse weather condition. This visit will be cancelled with no rescheduled arrangement. No parking arrangement at the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters.
