Event: The President’s Cup 2017 Date: Wednesday, 14 June 2017 Venue: Harbour Plaza Golf Club (東莞海逸) Format: Individual Gross and Stableford (Men, Ladies, Seniors, Affiliate Divisions)
This Event is in honour of HKUAA President Paul Ho who has sponsored this Event for many years. The Golf Team is grateful for his continuous and generous support of one of the biggest Event in our Annual Golf Calendar. The Golf Team is also very grateful for the support of Mr Raymond Chan of TaylorMade, one of the largest and most reputable golf equipment manufacturers in the world, who have also sponsored many of the top golfers from many countries. TaylorMade has sponsored M1 Driver, M1 Fairway Wood and luggage for this Event. (http://taylormadegolf.com/) We would also like to thank our Team mate, Edmund Wu, of Sports Life Asia (www.sportslifeasia.com ) for his sponsorship of many prizes in our past Events and especially for his sponsorship of a Precision Pro NX 7 laser rangefinder (www.precisionprogolf.com) for this Event.
Two well known HKPGA Pro’s joined our event, Edmund Sung and Jeanie Kwok. After a briefing, everyone eagerly headed to their respective tees for the shotgun start. The course was a bit wet but was in good condition. Many players had no difficulties playing well. Most of the players enjoyed the scenic and difficult holes. In short, everyone had a fabulous time. Afterwards, we had a delicious dinner banquet in the luxurious Clubhouse, followed by a very lively Auction of golf equipment sponsored by TaylorMade and Edmund Wu, with the proceeds going to the Golf Team’s General Fund. Encouraged by auctioneers, Dr Wilson Lee and Captain Roddy Lau, many players bidded vigorously for the latest TaylorMade M1 Driver and M1 Fairway Wood which are used by many top professional Mens and Ladies players. Many participants were also very keen to bid for the Precision Pro NX7 Laser Rangefinder sponsored by Edmund Wu of Sports Life Asia. Eventually, a happy CW Leung won the M1 Driver and Cheung Yuk Tong won the M1 Fairway Wood. Thomas So won the Precision Pro NX7 Laser Rangefinder and Paul Yu had the winning bid for the TaylorMade carry-on luggage. Many thanks to the winning bidders for their contributions. And also many thanks to Dr Wilson Lee and Captain Roddy Lau for the successful Auction. Following the Auction, there was the Lucky Draw with many wonderful prizes and goodies, and the Prize Ceremony.

More News of HKUAA Golf Team Members Yvonne Wong is representing Hong Kong in the Mercedes Trophy in Australia The Mercedes Trophy Hong Kong Finals were held at the Hong Kong Golf Club in May 2017 and of the 124 participants, HKUAA Golf Team Member, Yvonne Wong, qualified in her Division to advance to the Mercedes Trophy Asian Finals to be held at Sanctuary Cove in the Gold Coast region of Australia in August. Congratulations to Yvonne!
The Golf Team wishes Yvonne success in Australia and hopes that she can advance to the Mercedes Trophy World Final at Stuttgart, Germany, in October. We also hope that she makes a Hole-In-One and brings back a Mercedes car!
